Air jet mill
Air jet mill is equipment that uses high-speed air to grind dry materials to a fine powder. It consists of a grinding nozzle, a grading rotor, a spiral feeder, etc.
The spiral feeder sends the material into the grinding chamber. Compressed air is sprayed at high speed into the chamber through a special supersonic nozzle. The material is accelerated in the supersonic jet flow. It then grinds by repeatedly impacting and colliding at the nozzle’s intersection. The crushed material enters the classification chamber with the rising airflow. The grading rotor spins fast. It creates a centrifugal force on the particles. The airflow’s viscosity creates a centripetal force. When the centrifugal force on the particles exceeds the centripetal force, the coarse particles above the grading diameter return to the grinding chamber. They then continue to impact and crush. The fine particles below the grading diameter are collected by the cyclone separator and dust collector with the airflow. The gas is then discharged by the induced draft fan.
