1. Project Background
The client, a high-quality synthetic resin manufacturer based in Indonesia, required a solution for processing raw resin balls. These materials are typically thermoplastic, meaning they are highly sensitive to temperature; heat generated by mechanical friction during grinding can easily lead to material softening, clumping, or equipment clogging.
The core objective was to achieve large-scale, ultrafine grinding of resin balls while maintaining the material’s physical integrity, requiring a uniform particle size distribution and stable system operation.
2. Technical Challenges
- Strict Temperature Control: Due to the low softening point of the resin, the system must operate continuously at low or ambient temperatures.
- Balance of Fineness and Capacity: Achieving an ultrafine level of D50: 20μm while maintaining an industrial throughput of 200kg/h.
- Explosion Safety: Resin dust is inherently combustible; the system requires superior sealing and explosion-proof engineering.
3. Solution: Epic Powder Turbo Mill System

To address these material characteristics, Epic Powder provided a customized Turbo Mill system specifically optimized for the ultrafine grinding of resin balls.
Equipment Advantages & Configuration:
- High-Frequency Shearing: The rotor spins at high speeds (linear speeds exceeding $120m/s$), creating intense vortices and high-frequency pressure fluctuations. This allows the resin balls to collide with each other in the airflow (self-pumping grinding), significantly reducing mechanical heat.
- High-Volume Air Cooling: The system is equipped with a high-capacity induced draft fan. The massive airflow rapidly carries away heat from the grinding chamber, ensuring the material remains well below its softening point.
- Precision Classification: An integrated horizontal or vertical turbine classifier accurately intercepts particles larger than 20μm and returns them for re-grinding, ensuring the D50 strictly meets the target.
- Safety & Automation: The system utilizes a pulse jet dust collector for automatic cleaning and can be configured with an inert gas (Nitrogen) protection system for maximum safety.
