What Is the Pin Mill 630C?
The Pin Mill 630C is a dual-drive high-speed impact mill from Epic Powder Machinery, designed with input from German engineers. The “630” refers to the 630 mm grinding disc diameter, and the “C” indicates the dual-drive configuration, where both the upper and lower discs rotate in opposite directions.
In a standard single-drive pin mill, one disc rotates while the other stays fixed. The 630C drives both discs, so the relative speed between the pin arrays is the sum of both disc speeds. This gives higher impact energy and shearing force, which helps when grinding hard materials or when you need a tight particle size distribution.

How the Pin Mill 630C Works
Material enters the grinding chamber through a feeder. Inside, two counter-rotating discs, each fitted with rows of pins, create the grinding zone. As particles pass through the intermeshing pins, they are broken down by three forces:
Impact from pins rotating at linear speeds up to 240 m/s
Shearing between the opposing pin arrays
Friction and collision between particles and pin surfaces
Because the mill has no screen, material flows freely through the grinding zone. There is no screen to clog, which is useful for sticky, oily, or fibrous materials. Ground particles exit through a discharge outlet. An optional air classifier can be added to separate oversize particles and return them to the grinding zone for a narrower size distribution.
