A research team has developed a method to prepare high-whiteness negative ion powder. This method can convert low-whiteness tourmaline into high-whiteness, highly efficient negative ion release powder. The powder is non-radiation and increases the utilization value of tourmaline.

The preparation method includes the following steps:

(1) Ball mill-grind tourmaline ore into tourmaline powder. Mix the powder with a dispersant and water in a mass ratio of 1:(0.01-0.1):(0.8-1.5). Add a grinding medium with an average particle size of 0.2 mm-0.4 mm. The mass ratio of the grinding medium to tourmaline powder is (3-10):1. Grind for 150-300 minutes at a speed of 2000-3000 rpm.

(2) Add a surface modifier to the system. The mass ratio of the surface modifier to tourmaline powder is (1-8):1. Continue grinding for 1-2 hours at a speed of 2000-3000 rpm. After the reaction is complete, a high-whiteness negative ion powder slurry is obtained. The high-whiteness negative ion powder is then obtained by drying. Test results show a whiteness of 65.63 and a negative oxygen ion release value of 779.

Through this preparation method, the research team solved the problem of low whiteness in tourmaline. They also ensured its negative ion release characteristics. In the future, this technology can be widely applied in health, environmental protection, construction, textiles, and other fields.
