Project Background
An Indian metal powder company purchased the HTS100 classifier for fine classification of 316 stainless steel powder. The initial particle size was D50 = 45 μm. The goal was to produce ultrafine powder with D97 = 10–15 μm. The product is used in 3D printing and battery material applications.

Technical Solution
- Equipment Configuration: The system adopted the HTS100 turbo classifier, equipped with a 304 stainless steel classification wheel, operating at a speed of 5500 r/min and an air pressure of 0.8 MPa.
- Process Optimization: A closed-circuit circulation system (circulation load 200%) was applied to improve the fine powder recovery rate.
Implementation Results
- Particle Size Control: After classification, D97 = 12 μm with a narrow size distribution (span ≤ 1.5), meeting the customer’s requirement for a narrow particle size range.
- Purity Improvement: The fine powder content in the coarse fraction was reduced to below 5%, and powder flowability was significantly enhanced.
- Production Efficiency: The single-unit throughput reached 120 kg/h, representing a 40% increase compared with traditional equipment.
Customer Feedback
The Indian customer expressed satisfaction with the classification precision and operational stability. And they plan to expand production capacity by purchasing a second unit.
