To further enhance battery rate capability and cycle life, the customer required precise Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Ultrafine Classification of the synthesized LFP powder.
Project Challenges
Extremely strict deeltjesgrootte distribution:
The fine fraction D50 must be stably controlled within 1.2–1.5 μm, which falls into the ultrafine classification range.
Stringent control of coarse particles:
Coarse particles must be completely eliminated, ensuring D100 < 10 μm, in order to prevent scratches or short-circuit risks during the electrode bekleding proces.
Materiaaleigenschappen:
LFP exhibits a certain degree of abrasiveness and is highly sensitive to metal contamination (such as increased iron content).
Oplossing: ITC Series Vertical / Horizontal Classification System
To meet the customer’s high standards, Epic Powder supplied the ITC lucht classificator. This lithium iron phosphate (LFP) ultrafine classification system features a vertical single-rotor or multi-rotor design (or a horizontally configured structure customized according to capacity), specifically developed for high-precision classification.
Core Process Configuration
- High-precision classification wheel:
A specially designed rotor structure combined with variable-frequency control allows rotational speeds of up to 18,000 rpm, ensuring an accurate cut point. - Full ceramic protection:
To withstand LFP abrasion and maintain material purity, all internal components of the classifier (classifier wheel, inner lining, inlet and outlet) are protected with alumina or silicon carbide ceramic linings, achieving zero metal contact. - Closed-circuit system:
Equipped with a high-efficiency cyclone collector and a pulse jet bag filter to ensure high fine powder collection efficiency and stable system pressure balance.
Testing and Operating Data
Through precise optimization of classifier speed, feed rate, and airflow, the following performance indicators were achieved:
